Background
Robert (Bob) began his career as a law clerk with the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office while still in law school. Following graduation, he became a trial team attorney at the Hennepin County Public Defender’s Office for eight years. While there, he worked on cases ranging from Domestic Assaults to First Degree Murder. Five years after graduating law school, Bob won a not guilty verdict in a First Degree Murder trial using a mental illness defense, only the third time ever in Minnesota. Following his time at the Public Defender's office, he moved to private practice, starting his own law office.
For the past 30 years, he has practiced in both State and Federal Court on cases ranging from murder to criminal sexual conduct, narcotics, DWI, and assault, winning numerous acquittals at trial. He has handled over 100 murder cases, and tried 24 murder cases to a verdict. Bob has represented numerous clients on a pre-charge basis, the majority of which successfully avoided formal criminal charges. He has represented hundreds of clients on juvenile delinquency matters, as well as parents on child protection cases. He also handles professional licensure matters. Additionally, he has handled numerous appeals in both state and federal court. Bob has served as a lawyer on the MPPOA Legal Defense Fund https://www.mppoa.com/index.php/legal-defense-fund-info/attorneys/team/7 for six years, one of only 11 lawyers in the state of Minnesota.
